June 2017 Newsletter

At Multi-Lab steel laboratory furniture is our specialty, but our machines and associates have the means to do much more. Companies have come to us to get specific bends done on parts that their machines do not have the ability to perform. A typical brake press can only do bends that fit the tooling and operators capacity. Our Prima Power panel bender can do hemming and radius bends. This machine also saves us time with the automatic tool changing feature.

If you would like to see some of the specialty bends our machine can do, visit our website and click on the capabilities tab. To build a cabinet, parts must be cut, bent, welded, painted and assembled, but running individual parts takes much less time. A client may come to us with parts because they do not have the time or tooling to fulfill their order. If a part only needs to be cut and bent, we can do that very quickly. We also have clients that bring their parts already cut and they just need special bends done. That is also something we can do quickly and easily. Multi-Lab has also done assemblies on products other than cabinets for clients. A product may require parts to be manually assembled or packaged before it can be shipped to the customer. We have the space and ability to run many different production types. If you are looking for something other than cabinets, give us a call. We might be able to help you out!

ISO 9001

We have been working on getting our ISO 9001: 2015 certification since December and on Wednesday, May 24 we passed our Stage 2 Audit and have been recommended for ISO Certification. We are very excited to be receiving this certification. ISO 9001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. We received the Skilled Trades Training Fund Grant from MI Works! to help us cover the cost of our training. Implementing ISO 9001 into our shop has taken some time and flexibility, but it will definitely help us to be more organized and orders will flow more steadily in and out of the shop. We are excited to show our customers that we live up to ISO standards.

“I am very excited to announce that we have been recommended for the ISO 9001 Certification. This is a big move for a company of our size. This is really going to put us on par with other larger companies doing the same work. We know our products are high quality, but now we will be able to prove it. I am very proud of everyone and the hard work they have put into getting us this far.”  -Mark
