What does it take to be a sustainable company? That is the question we were asking ourselves when the company was purchased almost 3 years ago. The previous company did not have any actions in place to make the company sustainable and we wanted to make that change.
Sustainability: the pursuit of global environmental sustainability. The environment has not always been a top priority of manufacturers and large factories. In the past 20 years, there have been several laws put in place to restrict companies from air pollution, toxic waste and dumpage.
At Multi-Lab, we have taken steps to make sure that we do not contaminate our environment any further. We started out just putting recycling bins in place in all offices for paper only. We then decided to take it to the next step and recycle are cardboard and plastic as well. Multi-Lab now has a company come and remove all waste oil and scrap metal once a week. Taking these steps ensures that Multi-Lab will not leave a larger carbon footprint than necessary.
Multi-Lab can now proudly say that we are getting very close to being 100% landfill free! The next step will be to get a compost site for all natural substances that can be absorbed into the ground. One big step is simply ensuring that your laboratory can function efficiently for years to come. We use all our own lab furniture in our company because we know it is the most resilient on the market.
To ensure that your lab or company is acting on being sustainable, take a look at how you are recycling and the type of cabinets that are in place. How long will they last?
Below is a photo of one of our height adjustable tables. Most of our office employees love having these as their work spaces.
Your Biz Your Town
On April 28, we had the opportunity to be featured on WGVU, an educational and informative West Michigan radio show, on a segment called Your Biz Your Town. The Morning Show with Shelley Irwin does a short segment once a month featuring West Michigan businesses. Our owner, Mark, go ta chance to talk about Multi-Lab and how we have grown in the past 3 years, along with three other West Michigan business owners. West Michigan's Center for Arts & Technology (WMCAT), The North Quarter of Grand Rapids, and Russo's International Market. If you would like to listen to the segment, check out 834 Design & Marketing's Facebook page. You can also find the WGVU Morning show with Shelley Irwin on Facebook and wgvunews.org.

A Note from the CEO
May is a big month for us here at Multi-Lab. We are about to be presented a very important certification at the end of the month, which I will give more details on in June. All I can say for now is that everyone has been working very hard to get our company on point. I am very pleased with how far we have come, even since the beginning of the year. We have been making lots of improvements and I can only see things getting better from here.
